Slamming MLM
Home Business, Network Marketing No Comments »Have you ever heard this statement? “I tried everything in a home business. I tried MLM and those pyramid schemes and went broke. And then I found….” I find it amazing first of all that people who fail at something or do not do well cannot own their own failure instead have to blame it on someone or something else.
First off let me say that whenever someone has to put down another business or industry to make them self look good BEWARE! We see this type of advertising all the time. Auto makers do it, dish washing liquids and laundry detergents do it, and the list goes on. If an individual has to put down their competition I encourage you to look deep at both the business and the person promoting it.
The solution to their failure is the new fangled business that anyone can do regardless of computer skills. This same low skilled individual can make anywhere from a $100 – $300 dollars a day. Have you heard that one or something like it? It gets better; there is always someone who has done it. The truth is there is always someone in every business and industry that has done it or been successful. The only question I have is if it does not require a skill set to be successful, then why are more people not doing it?
Another hook is many of these work from home businesses reach out to the unemployed or those who are being affected by this economic downturn. That is all fine and good. Many of these businesses have you fill out an online form to acquire more information only to go to the next screen and ask for a credit card number to order some information packet or course for $39.99, or $69.99 or some amount along those lines. My question is if I am being affected by the economy what makes anyone think I am going to eagerly reach in my pocket and pull out my bank card and spend money on something with such claims as “make $300 per day”, “anyone can do it”, or “anyone can do it regardless of computer skills”?
Maybe this post is more of a rant. But I feel that the MLM industry is a viable and lucrative industry that is upfront and honest. I will be the first to admit that there are crooks in every industry. And many of those businesses making such claims as I have mentioned might be great businesses but are being undermined by shady characters lambasting other businesses or industries. It is not necessary to minimize or degrade another industry to get ahead.
With all the online opportunities out there we need to band together as professionals and make the internet a place people really take a long hard look at. When they look they see integrity and honesty not the newest and latest scam. If we (and when I say we I mean everyone doing business on the Internet from home) want to reach the masses we have to do it ethically and with integrity. Let’s build one another up and not tear each other down.
